Beaver Brown

Beaver brown is a shade of brown representative of the colour of a beaver.

The first recorded use of beaver as a colour name in English was in 1705.

The beaver (genus Castor) is a large, primarily nocturnal (active in the nighttime) , semi-aquatic rodent.

Their colonies create one or more dams to provide still, deep water to protect against predators, and to float food and building material.

The colour “beaver” was formulated as one of the Crayola colours in 1998.

Etymologically, it’s believed that the words “brown” and “beaver” ultimately stem from the same root word.
